About advocacy.rocks

Helping everyday citizens make their voices heard

What this is

advocacy.rocks is a free civic tool that helps US residents find their elected representatives — federal, state, and local — and write effective, personalized advocacy letters to them. We believe that contacting your representatives is one of the most direct ways to participate in democracy, and we built this to make that as easy as possible for everyone.

How it works

You enter your name and home address. We use that address to look up every elected official who represents you — from your US Senators down to your state assembly member — using publicly available civic data from OpenStates and the US Census Bureau geocoder.

Once you have your list of representatives, you can choose any official and use our AI writing assistant (powered by Anthropic Claude) to help you draft a formal, personal advocacy letter. The AI is a coach, not a ghostwriter — the goal is to help you articulate your own concerns clearly and effectively, not to produce generic boilerplate.

Our values

  • Non-partisan. We serve citizens of every political persuasion. Our tool helps anyone communicate with any official on any issue.
  • Privacy-first. We do not store your name, address, or letters. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
  • Free to use. No accounts, no subscriptions, no ads.
  • Authenticity over automation. We encourage you to edit and personalize every letter before sending. Personal stories are far more effective than form letters.

Coverage

advocacy.rocks currently covers US federal and state legislators (US Senators, US House Representatives, state senators, and state assembly/house members). We rely on OpenStates for this data. Coverage of governors, local officials, and school board members is limited by what is publicly available through our data sources, and we are working to improve it.
